Summary
So, SSD or Solid State Drive has become popular in the web hosting industry today. There are lots of providers using or adding SSD into their servers so they can keep up with the trend of SSD packages. One of many providers that comes with Solid State Drive package is VPSBlast.net, the newly born VPS provider (based on their domain registered on March 31, 2012). But if we check who or what is behind this provider, then you will find IT7 Networks Inc. I don’t know either about IT7, but it seems that they have been playing since 2005.
Back to the business, this provider uses server from Hetzner Online. The server has Intel Core i7 2600 with 4 cores @ 3.4GHz, not bad but not so good if you create too much crowd inside the node. The benchmark’s score for one cpu (in this package) is 709 points. Next for the network speed, 1Gbit uplink can be felt from Europe, in this case i did tests from Netherland and Italy. How about another location? United States for example? Don’t worry, you will still be able to get 100Mbit. Now the disk I/O test of the Solid State Drive, 250 MegaByte per Second is enough to prove that they are really using it. This is good for customer, because some says that this kind of disk is very fast for reading. On the other hand, this is not so good in the term of life time compared to the conventional one, makes this is not so good for a long term use. Last thing to be discussed is about their support, 24 hours in seven days for network problem, but for the vps it is only available in work hours because it is unmanaged. The conclusion for VPSBlast.net will be 8.5 for the price and what you will get. Hopefully the condition of the server and support will be forever, i like this provider.
